Eugene received Jesus Christ as his atoning Savior after hearing the story of the need for the Passover lamb after attending Vacation Bible School at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. His parents remember that at such a young age he was excited about being publicly identified with Christ in baptism.

Eugene was born in Dallas Texas, and spent his later childhood years in Euless, Texas graduating from Trinity High School. Eugene attended Texas A&M University graduating with a History Degree. Today, Eugene has been in the Residential Mortgage Business for 17 years.

While back home for the summer after his Freshman year, he met Marie working at the same restaurant and they have been a team ever since. Marie and Eugene have been married for 20 years and now have 4 children, Libby, Charlie, Sami and Cate.

The Yost family joined Southlake Baptist Church in 2013. Eugene is passionate about serving the body of Christ and the call to teach children about Jesus. He believes that one of the most important ministries at Southlake Baptist is the call to proclaim that Jesus saves sinners and making a case for the Christian Worldview to our kids. He has for many years co-taught  Quest kidz worship, and partners with Pastor Clay in the 5th & 6th grade Big Picture class. Eugene also co-leads the Steele Home group with Chris Steele.

Eugene counts a major changing point in his Spiritual Life and Marriage when he began to be Discipled around 15 years ago. He feels that Discipleship ignited a fire and passion to replicate what was done for him in the Men around him. He is enthusiastic about walking along side with Men of all ages and replicating Disciples in and out of Southlake Baptist Church. He believes that it is the mission of Southlake Baptist to be discipled and then to disciple others as proclaimed by Jesus in Matthew 28. Eugene is always looking for new men to walk with to reveal what the Holy Spirit is continuing to teach and challenge him with each day, as we all follow the Master Jesus.

Eugene’s favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 3:18
“We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
