Clay felt the call to pastoral ministry as a young teenager. After graduating high school, he attended Bible college for training in the ministry. While in college he met his wife Heather, and several years after graduating they were married. Clay began his career in the business world, working for RPS (Now FedEx Ground), and advanced into management in that organization. Clay eventually started his own company, which grew to operate in 14 states with hundreds of employees.
Feeling God’s call to help start more churches, Clay founded Global Church Planters, a non-profit ministry, in 2003. The organization plants churches around the world and to date has helped start more than three hundred churches. During this time Clay travelled, and spoke extensively in churches in the United States and around the world.
In 2009, Clay felt God’s call to start Southlake Baptist Church. He divested his business interests, purchased a home in Southlake, and now lives on the North side of the city. He serves as the chaplain for the city of Southlake, and has a genuine love for the people of Southlake.

Clay enjoys dating his wife Heather, hanging out with his kids: Jack, Josh, Eric, Matthew, Tyler, Abby, and Jacob, frequenting Starbucks, and watching his sons play football and run track.
