We share…
A Commitment to Scripture – Our first value at Southlake Baptist Church is our commitment to Scripture. If we abandon Scripture, we have no basis for our faith and values. We believe the preaching and teaching of God’s Word is vital and changes people. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 1:1
A Passion for the Gospel – We are determined to proclaim the Gospel as the only essential message in history. It is not just a message with profound eternal implications; it has everything to do with our lives as believers. Our goal is to help people center their lives and identities in the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 2:2; 2 Timothy 2:1
A Lifestyle of Worship – We believe worship is a lifestyle, not just a block of time when we gather at church to sing and listen to preaching. It is a way of living life before those around us. Worship is the outpouring of our devotion and love for God. When we love God, we cannot help but worship Him with our lives. Romans 12:1-2;
A Culture of Prayer – We want our church to pray its way to victory. We want our church to be a center of prayer in and for our community. Prayer brings the spiritual awakening our world so desperately needs, and we want to be a church defined by prayer. Jeremiah 33:3
A Connection to Community – As we live our lives together in small groups built around a focal point of God’s Word, we can develop deep relationships. Through these relationships, we will forge lasting friendships and gain wisdom, fresh perspective, and accountability as we follow Christ together. We will also endeavor to serve our local communities by loving the cities in which we live. 1 Corinthians 12; Hebrews 10:24-25; Galatians 6:2; Acts 4:32-35
A Desire for Legacy – As a church, we are committed to passing on our Christian faith to our children. We are determined to equip parents to lovingly lead their homes, build Christian legacies and provide their children with a biblical foundation. 2 Timothy 1:5; Psalm 78:4; Philemon 1:7
A Heart for Restoration – We acknowledge that every person is broken in some way and needs the wholeness only Christ can give. We want to bring hope and healing to our community. Church is not a place for people who have it all together, but a place where broken people gather for help and to worship their Creator. Luke 4:18-19
A Dedication to Serving – We desire to be a people who want to serve each other and our communities. Instead of outsourcing our care, we intend to fulfill our mission ourselves. Matthew 7:12; Mark 12:30-31; Matthew 25:31-40
